Liberal, Conservative, Southern Conservative humor?

yeah...been there read that...Actually this Liberal experienced this situation in reality. Let me expound for a moment....

The year is 1985, and as college student in Germany, a good friend of mine (conservative Christian) were returning late one night. We exited the train and went down into the tunnel that ran under the tracks and led to the street on the other side. As we approached the staircase, 2 Turks could be seen talking at the top of the stairs. No one else was around. So as my American buddy and I start up the stairs, one of the Turks starts to edge down the staircase to our far left, while the other one waits for us. This Liberal's neck hairs were standing up...this looked bad. As I near the top of the staircase, the Turk at the top moves to block me and asks me in English for a light. I tell him to get out of my way and move to pass. He moves to block again and tells me he's lost. I tell him to get his sorry butt out of my way and blow by. Now my conservative Christian buddy is pretty hacked off at me. And as we head into the well lit city center, he begins lecturing me for being such as pathetic Christian (I might be). He was really angry at me for not helping the lost Turk.

So I stopped and look at my conservative Christian buddy and asked him ever so gently if he had bothered to notice the Turk that was coming up behind him. Thus ended the lecture.

Now lest you think badly of me, I very much admire and respect my conservative Christian friend. He is a pillar in his community in California and a very fine person. That night he acted as the good Christian man that he was....and I acted as every worldly Liberal would in the same situation.
