Halloween was my favorite holiday when I was little (and I still enjoy it). It was never really about the candy for me, although it was a nice bonus. I loved figuring out my costume, and carving the pumpkins, and going house to house and seeing what the neighbors were trying to scare us with!

One Halloween when I was really little, we were visiting my grandmother. She dressed my brother and I up as bank robbers, with stockings over our heads. For some reason, I thought that it was the LAW that you had to give candy out to kids. So when this big guy answered the door with, "What do YOU want?" I said,"I want some candy, you big FAT MAN!" ...well that guy refused to give me any candy and I ran crying to my dad..and I was mad that Dad wasn't gonna call the cops on that guy.

When I was a little girl I went trick or treating with my 2 older brothers and sister. My mother dressed me in a burlap potato sack stuffed with pillows. My siblings kept pushing me down and I couldn't get back up ( I was 5 ) so at the time I thought that this was pure torchure because they kept getting candy first But now that I'm older it's on of the best memories that I have of the holiday.

The lady across the street, this is 1965, decorated her front doorway as a witches house, and herself as a witch. She had a huge cauldron of some steaming brew and I was amazed. (I was 6.) We were asked if we wanted some (cool-aid) but NO WAY did my brother and I trust her! (Turns out years later, I'm finally told, it's was the old dry ice trick. Of course being old I see that now. HA.)
Great memory!

Of course my other memories are of my own son, 4 years a fireman, and the best was he was scared of the werewolf upstairs (handing out candy), so I said "Well, Kenny, you have an ax, what's to be scared of?" So he takes his ax out , and slowly goes up stairs - and gets his candy, no problem.
I love Halloween so much!
I hope yours is memorable!

My first time trick or treating was my favorite . The church I went to at the time brainwashed me into thinking I would go to hell if I celebrated halloween. My parents couldn't even convince me into dressing up. When I was 12, I realised how stupid I was to believe that and I dressed up and went trick or treating. It was the most fun time I ever had at the time.

One year I dressed up as little red riding hood. It was hilarious as I had a goatee and a very masculine build. The sight of me in a skirt is scary.

me and my girlfriend dressed up like gipsies, we had really bright realistic clothes and wigs, i wore pillows under my dress, i looked really fat and scary.
We crashed into my girlfried's house and scared her mom and dad to death.
Then we visited lots of our friends, noone recognized us, and we scared everyone.
