(even though the myans say the human race will end dec. 21, 2012...) im just wondering! it kinda maks sence though. reptials, mammals, birds. or maybe fish... lol. (sorry for sucking at spelling.)

Ok.....one school of thought as why the dinosaurs were as large as they were is due to the oxygen saturated atmosphere.

Can you imagine majority of the mammals becoming extinct especially humans? Over hundreds of thousands of years the earth would balance out and imagine if oxygen levels spiked again with INSECTS as the dominant predators in the food chain.

Perhaps small groups of humans survived. Can you imagine being hunted by a 15ft tall spider(arachnid i know i said insects) or other bug.

Those of you that have seen the new King Kong.....imagine that scene where those huge bugs attack them. Nasty and scary.

First it was invertebrates; especially trilobites! They were around for 600 MILLION years, but never built anything!
Then came the dinosaurs, 75 million years, also never built anything!
We are next. But we can go to other planets, so it is not likely we can be killed off as easy. We PROBABLY will either perfect genetics so everyone is perfect, or we will perfect machines for body parts, or a combination of BOTH genetics and machine body parts.

I did not know the myans had a specific date for all of us to cease to exist. I wonder what they saw in our future?

Actually according to the Mayans the world is NOT going to end, it merely states that the calendar itself would end.

As for your question on what will "rule" the earth after the mammals? I don't believe anything will survive after we mammals are through with each other. Our world will not be hospitable for any living thing to survive.

Ha. in the 1400s the Mayans thought they would still be around in 2012 to see it too...

Crustaceans will be dominant next.
