Sure!
You could do it this way for the distributive method.
Since 98 is the same as 100-2, you are solving:
4(100-2)
Which works out to:
(4x100) - (4x2) = 400 - 8 = 392.
Using mental math, you could do the same thing. In your mind, instead of 98, think 100. Then, once you multiply, you'll have 400 in your mind. Then, 98 is only two less, and you need to multiply by 4. So, 4 x 2 is 8. Then, use mental math to subtract and you'll get 392.

Think of 98 as 100-2
Now you have 4(100-2)
Using the distributive Property you get 400-8, or 392

Here's how.
Take 98 and distribute it (that means to break it apart).
So, 98=90+8, right?
Now, the new problem is: [(90)4]+[(8)4].
So, 90*4 is 360 (like an XBox 360) and 8*4=32.
Then add. 360+32=392.
You can also subtract like this:
[(100)4]-[(2)4]=400-8=392.
Fun, huh?

you could multiply 2 x 8 in one step to get sixteen. or you could wreck the 8 into 3 + 5 (or the different sum) and do the multiplication in 2 steps: 2 x 8 = 2 ( 3 + 5 ) How would you finished this? seems such as you could multiply 2 x 3 and upload it to 2 x 5 to get sixteen 2 x (3+5) = 2x3 + 2x5 = 6 + 10 = sixteen. This final line above is spoke of as dispensing 2 to 3 and 5 by multication over addition. you have finished this all you existence, Whe you multiply 3 x 12 you rather think of three ( 10+2) = 30 + 6 = 36 it rather is all of the distributive assets is,
