...answer their homework questions for them?
It's getting a little ridiculous...anyone agree?!!
I don't mind helping w/ references & such...but it seems like kids get on here, looking for someone to give them answers to things they need to be able to figure out by themselves!
I mean NO offense to anyone!! I'm just think that, kids need to LEARN, not just get things handed to them & memorize.

ALL really great answers!!
I have a 9 yr. old son, who knows way more about technology than I. :-)
I am grateful for all the technological resources that are available; I'm sure that will enhance his learning.

I just worry when I see some of the questions on here....& how late they show up (yes, taking time zones into consideration!!).

Thanks for the input!!

i agree, and im still in 8th grade. i've only asked 2 hw questions, and thats because they had to do with government and i didnt really understand it, i didnt ask them to give the answer. does that make sense??? kids really should just do their own work so they can actually learn something. isnt that what school's about?

I disagree but only for this reason. Many kids from all over the world ask homework questions I know one of my friends in the UK, her kids were getting out of school just as I was getting ready to take mine to school, so depending on where the kids are from they are all doing homework at different times. If they were all doing they're homework at the same time then I would agree with you.

It depends how many times they ask questions about their homework. If someone really needs help on their homework, I guess Yahoo! Answers would probably be the best place to ask a question if teachers aren't immediately available and their guardian(s) can't answer their question. However, posting their entire homework assignments on this site for people to complete for them should definitely be unacceptable, when the student can at least try their best.

seeing as i'm a freshman in high school, i personally would never ask for straight out answers, but i would probably ask for some help. I'm really only thinking math-wise, since any other subject (spanish, history, english, science, etc.) could be looked up in a textbook or online, but math can be a harder concept. there are always exceptions, like asking for resources, but just asking for straight out answers is a bit wrong (just as wrong as copying someone else's homework, i think)

so anyways, the point that my rambling's trying to get at is that you should just give help/references even if they're asking for answers.

but what do i know? i'm just a stupid freshman.

well in some cases i totally agree with u! i mean kids really need to learn it on their own. but i mean every once in awhile there is i time u just dont no the answer and u have to ask, and i think that is ok. but if they keep doing it over and over again, thats bad! and yes i think that u should just help them find out the answer, not tell it to them

I agree, but with all the technology we have these days, kids are going to take advantage of it! No matter what, it's just going to get even easier for them!

Gosh, I never had it this good when I was growing up! I had to use an abacus!! hahaLoL

Yes I agree with you!!! I think the parents should keep a closer eye with their kids and help them with their homework not rely on the PC or YA.

I agree, but think back to when you were about 13 or 14. I know if I had something like this I would have taken advantage of it.

AGREE100%. Then to top it off, they never show any gratitude by awarding Best Answer. They just take the answer and run...I quit going there months ago...too depressing

One time, I posted, WHY DO YOU NEVER TAKE THE TIME TO THANK US BY AWARDING BEST ANSWER? in that category...oh! I got the vilest, rudest answers from those little heathen.
