When you hold him, lay him on your arms do he is belly down, and the palm of your hand rests on his belly. That will help with some of the discomfort. There is also a straight colick formula too.
I used the washing mashine a lot...place him up on the top while it is going.
Good luck Hon.

Much to everyones surprise there is no such thing as "colic", If the baby is crying there is something somewhere wrong and should be addressed immediatly by a pediatrician, by the way if your ped doesn't help, fire and hire a new one. I went thrrough many to get to where I am now witha baby that for the first few weeks would cry 6 hours straight with no breaks... By the way..
it turned out to be severe reflux and milk and soy allergies. Dr. Browns bottles are great to reduce the air getting into babies tummies, and nestle good start without dha ara is the best.. the dha and ara causes more stomach upset than helps the baby, and its not nessesarry to give the baby.
You don't have to suffer nor does your baby with this, there is something going on and with the right doctor you can get a peice of mind with your little one.

If I were you I would keep him on the Nestle Good Start. My son had problems with it at first, but did adjust to it. Anyway, if you can go out and get Hylands Colic Tablets and see if these help. You can also try letting you baby lay on your legs with the baby's stomach down and gently try to burp him. If this fails talk to your doctor about putting your baby on an organic soy formula. I'm not sure if it is safer then the regular soy, but my son seems not to burp as bad when he eats it. When you lay the baby down to sleep try putting the baby in a car seat, swing or bouncy seat. This may also help. I also found that turning off the computer, lights and the T.V really helps too. Put on some really relaxing music. By the way that first person who posted about the Dr. Brown Bottles is right. These bottles are so great. Stay away from the Avent ones. I also forgot to add that instead of shaking the formula in the bottle, stur it instead. It makes less gas in the baby's stomach.

Try to buy a bottle from Playtex, Vent Aire bottle.. This will refrain your son drinking air from the bottle..
They cry because they feel something that really bothers them..
I have a son12 weeks old, I give him little tummy anti gas whenever hes being colicky, and it helps..Sometimes formula is to thick, so you might need to get burp your baby ..Wait for at least 5 minutes before you try burping him..
But breastfeeding is still the best..I do pump even Im at work.. I tried to feed him with formula, but he always have problem..
Try similac advance

Purchase a small bottle of Gerber gas drops along with switching the milk like your pediatrician suggested. Then you have to make them comfortable. Put him/her on your chest where they can hear your heart beat (a calming familiar sound) and this also puts a little pressure on their tummy. Be patient and talk your baby through it with the understanding mommy knows best talk.
My son had the same problem and he had acid reflux so he was really unhappy. I was shocked at how comfortably he slept and at how much gas he passed as he rested!
Good luck and remember that time is passing quickly. Doesn't it seem like you were just in the delivery room? You can make it through this tough time even though you may feel overwhelmed. Colic usually goes away by 6 months anyway.

I so feel your pain. my daughter just grew out of colic 2 months ago. it started at 3 1/2 weeks old and lasted up until she was 4 1/2 months old. She was allergic to the dairy that I was eating in my diet. I have since switched her to nestle good start after my milk dried up. Rocking, laying her face down across my forearm, putting a towel in the dryer and heating it up and then placing the towel across my lap and her face down also. MYLACON drops!!!!! I also used gripe water they sell at grocery store and also online. I also have a hot pack that is specially made for colic and infants that you place in the microwave for 30 seconds and place around the belly made by happy tummies if you need it I will gladly share, and a hot water bottle also made by the same company. Good luck and hope that this works. Nestle is good also, its what I'm using now :)

I used to rock my daughters over my leg with their bellys against my leg. I would support their heads with one hand and rub their back with the other. Warm baths are always comforting too... I would run a bath and lay my girls on top of me. When we were done daddy would come and get them. They loved it, never ever cried.
Sometimes changing the formula helps. My sisters son suffered from colic. After a few months of switching we realized he had a milk intolerance and needed soy formula. Then he was a happy little guy. My thought is to ask the doctor for a good soy formula to use and that way you arn't playing the switch game too long.
Good luck.

Try the anti-colic bottles. Wal-mart has them as the parents choice brand, or Dr. Brown's makes them as well. (the walmart ones are half the price) Thats what worked best for my daughter. I am pretty sure they make special formula for colicky babies, but I didn't try it. Another thing that worked well for us is that we would walk her outside. Like in our back yard so if she started screaming a lot we could run in!! (LOL) But the fresh air helps them sleep. I know alot of people say the night time air is bad for them, but it saved my sanity and got her to calm down. Good luck, and just remember, it won't last forever.

well my daughter was diagnosed at 3 weeks with colic i tried everything i could. we swithch to soy formula and she started puking. and the crying got worse. then we wound up in the hospital and after a 4-5 weeks stay we found out she didnt have colic she had an allergy to the formula and Severe GERD. which caused alot of her crying. Have the doctor recheck if she starts spitting more and more. i tried colic nipple and everything nothing worked. Give gas drops and maybe talk to your doctor about a hypoallergenic formula which may be easier on your little ones belly. hope i helped

they make a bottle called dr brahms (dont quote my spelling) that has a straw device in it to catch the air before going to the baby and takes it back to the bottom That may help also they have gas medicin that you can use for the baby .You can get it in your baby section . Or it may have a low toleransce to milk some babys do at first you could try soy formula if you wanted . Good Luck

Please read this carefully...my oldest child was EXTREMELY colicky~ and our ped suggested trying a SOY based formula...She was like a completely NORMAL child the weekend we tried Prosobee.we switched back to the Isomil and she was TERROR BABY!! ..come to find out she was allergic to any formula BUT Prosobee~ NOW...after several weeks of feeding her this formula she was allergic to...caused her to develope an abdominal hernia...which was like a bump that would literally POP out and you could see whenever she cried...and this caused her a GREAT amount of pain!! She had to have hernia surgery at 9 months old...NOW...
My next child...was IMMEDIATELY put on the Prosobee to PREVENT this from happening AGAIN!!! He was GREAT on the soy based formula...NOW...my 2nd son....(I have one daughter and 3 sons!)Adam was ALLERGIC to Prosobee...so he was placed on a VERY expensive formula...Neutramigin( not sure on spelling!) This is is like $36 a can for the powdered formula...he also had reflux...our last son...Prosobee worked great for him... I'd try to see if maybe a soy based formula would work...
I almost forgot...a friend of mine had her daughter at the same time I had Kellie...she was HIGHLY allergic to EVERY kind of formula...so the PED had her placed on goats' milk...and that stuff STINKS!!
