I don't know of any Chinese games that require "making". Most games played by Chinese (other than Majong, Chinese chess and checkers) are played vocally, or using hand motions. The reason being that everyone can play, even if you're poor- you don't have to buy the board or pieces, or any other equipment to play. The most fun one that I like to play is called "bang bang", and all you need is a set of chopsticks. Here's how it's played: two people, each holding a chopstick, count to three or say "bang" four times while smacking the table with their chopsticks, and then they each shout out the name of a character. There are four characters: Bang zi, which is a bamboo pole; lao hu, which is "tiger"; ji, which means "chicken"; and "chong", which means "worm". It goes in a cycle- A bamboo pole can beat off a tiger, and therefore wins. A tiger will eat a chicken, and therefore wins. A chicken eats a worm, and a worm burrows holes in a bamboo pole, thus rendering it non-functional. So, for example, if one of the two people shouts "laohu", and the other shouts "bangzi", the person who shouted "bangzi" wins. However, if the two people shout two characters with no relation, for example, a chicken and a bamboo pole, it's a draw, and they have to keep playing. It sounds really cool when played fast- "Bang, bang, bang, bang JI!!!!", "Bangbangbangbang LAOHU!!!!", etc... Try teaching that to the rest of the class- they'll love it! (and they'll be learning to speak a little Chinese, too!)

I remember a game that was played in chinese culture wayyy back (learned it from a book in elementary school, i think)
This game where you take puzzle pieces (like torn pieces of paper)
and your supposed to try and make a picture, a creative one
but i'll leave the game name and research up to you, your going to need to do it for school anyways.
But this will be an easy game to design.

Kind of late on your project huh? You can make a chinese checkers board. But you need to buy marbles and such for it. But you can use things like cocoa puffs and kix for the pieces. Then you can still eat the cereal. But the board might be a little troublesome to make. My mother is actually from Taiwan and she told me as a youth, they would just play in mud and catch dragon flies by thier tails for fun. I would ask her for a game that she knows of, but she went to Taiwan for 2 weeks. You can also try and make a finger trap.
