Even better than the main question, is there a teacher on yahoo answers living in detroit that I can get an opinion out of? I seriously doubt it, but it wouldn't hurt.

Please don't tell me to google it, I have. The teachers were supposed to report to work monday before labor day, but was it one week before, two weeks? how long were negotiations going on before the strike?

Detroit Teachers Strike began on Monday, 8-28-2006. This would be the first time since 1999 the city's teachers have walked out.

Detroit Federation of Teachers gathered at Cobo Hall Center, in downtown Detroit on Sunday afternoon - 8-27-2006, and voted in masses to picket, instead of returning to school Monday.

The settled for a settlement that i think of benefited the two the faculties and the lecturers. i think of each time that a union runs right into a business enterprise or for this reason a school board that refuses to barter an equable settlement then they could be allowed to withhold centers. this is the only element that they could save it truthful.
