nope. its never free! well, and the music you download is ONLY for the iPod, because it is in the iPod Formt that only works on the iPod.

You can play the songs you download from iTunes on your computer only. Want to play them on an MP3 player, better shell out the money for an iPod. Sorry :(
On a side note, Limewire does work wonders for this problem

you cant download songs w/o a ipod and the songs are $1 a piece

u can download itunes free and use it, but its never free to buy the music. the songs are still $0.99. u can download it here:
