If you like gambling and the night life - try Las Vegas.
If you like American History, try Washington DC, and a tour of the area, including the Smithsonian.
Disneyland, Disney World, and Epcot center and children's favorites.
Colorado is great for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer.
The Florida Keys are nice for diving and relaxing.
New York City is always a nice attraction, with theater, dance, music, fashion, art, shopping, and any kind of night life.
San Francisco and Seattle are a couple nice cities to see.
Santa Fe is a much smaller city that has a lot of character, with unique architecture, great restaurants, and a lot of healing arts including massage, accupunture, yoga, etc. It's consistently ranked in the top 3 cities for art galleries along with New York City and San Francisco.
New Orleans during Maris Gras is a unique American experience, and your visit would help to restore a lot of the businesses there.

A hard question to answer, however: The Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA is a fine place to start. Take Tour #4 for more personal attention, and bring a camera and wear comfortable shoes, there are a lot of steps to climb.
