I have a chevy suburban and it wont shift into any gear. When i try to put it into park it grinds really bad , same with 4L. other than those two it's as if it is stuck in neutral. Should I force it into 4L?

It sounds like your Transfercase is shot. The grinding that you hear is the locking mechanismthat locks your drive shaft when you put your truck into park. Your transmission is actually shifting as it should, but your tranfercase is not letting the power get to your wheels. It can be pricey to fix this problem, depending on what is not working properly

sounds like you have a rear end problem...set your park brake and block the wheels...then put it in drive and look under it and see if the drive shaft is turning...if it is...then your rearend is gone or the transfer case is stuck in neutral. If you have been mudding check to see that the linkage in the transfer isn't full of mud keeping it from shifting this is not an uncommon problem...if you have been mudding.

NO, put the vehicle in N and then shift the transfer into N and then 2H. Then put the vehicle in gear. That should do the trick. Good luck.
