I don't have much of a clue why they did that. Maybe some people reported it for being a personal question, but honestly, I think questions like that are always appearing on Polls and Surveys, and there are a lot of worse questions that are never removed.

Getting an arbitrary violation is a rite of passage, here at Yahoo! Answers. To receive one should be a privilege :P.
I've had three so far, all over nothing.

its because that question is insiting a conversation,,,you are asking just for the reason to ask and not to seek help or advice which is the real purpose of asking and its in the guidelines....there was a guy last week that asked''what did you have for breakfast'' and that question was taken out for the same reasons i suppose.i think if you phrased it differently like''i'm looking for different ideas for dinnertime,,what did you have for dinner tonite? this would have been allowed and why? because i see them phrased like this alot in 'foods' .......

Don't feel bad, I just got mine deleted and all I asked was "Am I smokin'?" Have no clue what their problem is.

"What are you having for dinner tonight?" is a chat question, and chat questions aren't allowed in Y!A.
