I liked several historical romances by Lisa Kleypas(Suddenly You,When Strangers Marry, and Lady Sophia's Lover)all are good reads.Another book I loved,Born to Love,by Leigh Greenwood,is very good. And written by a man which surprized me.Both are both sensual and humorous, with more of a touch of realism than other romances I've read.Heriones one can relate to and feel for instead of cringe over. The plots are interesting and have an depth which I love. Not too much walk and talk and not too trashy ethier.Hope this helps.

It depends on if you're looking for books that are romantic, or the genre of books referred to as "romance novels."

classics with a romantic theme would include
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Evelina by Frances "Fanny" Burney

The Notebook and A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks would be "modern" tearjerkers generally thought to be a couple of notches better than "romance novels" but thought to be too sentimental by others.

If you want to go the romance novel route, I suggest Julia Quinn. I love her books!

Judith McNaught is very good historical romance. Along with Julie Garwood like a previous poster said. I've read many books by both authors and love them.

I really like Julie Garwood. Her older books are witty, clever, and very romantic. I own all of them, and have read some many times over. Her newer books, I own too, but I haven't had a chance to read them lately.

Try anything written by Nicholas Sparks. He's great without being all cheesy and silly.
