There are a couple of sources to try seeking out in the general sense. However, the possibilities are endless depending on the interests of the individual and their abilities. I do recommend finding a job coach who works with the developmentally disabled which can be through the school district (if still in school), department of vocational rehabilitation, or a nonprofit organization for the disabled.
The first place to try is the ARC of San Diego. Their web page is located at http://www.arc-sd.com/. Its services include a sheltered workshop, job coaching, job training, and job supports. There is a membership fee involved, but it is an annual fee.
The second place to try is the Good Will Industries of San Diego. Its web page is located at http://www.sdgoodwill.org/. The services are supported employment, employment centers, job matching, and job training.
The third source is Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Its website is located at http://www.rehab.cahwnet.gov/eps/drSanDie.htm. It provides a list of office locations. Its goal is to prepare individuals for employment through training, education, transportation, and placement. It is a government program.
I have also found a list of agencies providing help to people in San Diego with disabilities. It is located at http://www.cabln.org/sandiego/organiza.htm.
Good luck!
