Since six can be divided by three, you leave the first fraction alone and you change the second fraction to 4/6. We multiplied the bottom number by 2 to get six, so we have to multiply the top number as well. Now, we have to get the 358 to have a six on the bottom. A number by itself is thought to have a 1 underneath it, so it's 358/1. We need to get the bottom number to be a 6, so we multiply the bottom number by 6 to get 6, because 6 x 1=6. We have to do the same thing to the top number, which gives you a new equation:
2/6x+4/6x=2148/6
Now, just read across the top numbers to get a new equation, which is:
2x+4x=2148
6x=2148
x=358
Now plug in our answer to see if we're right.
