In the majority of states, unless you are caught with a serious amount of weed, i.e., you are a drug dealer, chances are you are not seeing a day of prison. In many cases, the possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor. In cases where there is enough pot to constitute a felony, most cases are plea bargained and the defendant is fined, put on probation and sent home.
Child rape, on the other hand is not a misdemeanor. I can assure you if someone is convicted of child rape, they are not getting probation and a fine. They may be paroled before fully serving their sentence, but this isn't because the jails are overflowing with longhaired hippies who like to pass the peace pipe. You want to clear out jail cells - legalize heroin, crystal meth, coke, crack, etc. Legalizing pot isn't going to help.

Deff... i think they should just, for the fact that if weed was legal then they could keep better control of it and just tax the shitt out of the people who used it take them money form the taxs and give it to schools... then there will not be so many dope heads in jail and therefor makeing room for the assholes who should really be in prison like child rapists

All child rapists need to be executed for the perverted stuff they do. Then there would be more room in prisons. Child molesters don't even deserve to be called human beings.

If they made pot legal, it would not effect the prisons , it would start from this point on any body previously would still be charged because at the time of conviction it was still illegal....

Probably, and hopefully for some other vicious criminals such as judges that let these perverts off with a slap on the wrist.

Nah...because there really aren't THAT many in prison for Pot, as compared to murder, rape, molestation, armed robbery. And, there are FAR more child molesters out there than Illegal pot growers.

Those poor souls already get knocked off by their fellow prisoners, so they don't take up room for very long.
