I was younger when the war started so there's a lot I really don't remember. We started off fighting in Afghanistan but now we're in Iraq. When did we switch over? How did it happen? I mean I know we're fighting in both but you don't hear as much about Afghanistan as you do Iraq now.

As far as I know, we went to afg. right after we found out osama was in charge of 911. Then later(2003 I believe) we(the UN/US) suspected that Iraq had "weapons of mass destruction" which of course they didn't. And no, we are not in iraq because of 911, even though a lot of people turn it into that, I think the government turned ti into that too.

You don't and won't hear as much about Afghanistan until our faithful leader is out of office. You don't hear as much about them because our presence there is much less intrusive and severe. We are involved in a conflict that we had no business being in to begin with and the negative impact is the reason you hear so much about Iraq because it is failing and our troops are suffering the consequences for it (now more have died then did on 9/11). There are probably a dozen reasons why we switched our emphasis to Iraq most leading to financial gain by some of Georges oil tycoon buddies but we will never know and I doubt we will ever win.

Watch the movie "We where soldiers" I think that's the correct name. Mel Gibson was the Lt Col who was put in charge of a very early campaign in Vietnam. In this movie it begins with a narration explaining the story and says basically "Where to begin" In this movie it tells of the French who where slaughtered while there, then the US stepped in. Why? Many political reasons I am sure but the one thing is and always will be to STOP or at least contain COMMUNISM or Governments such as those that treat people as if they where sub human. I dont think America Sprayed toxic gas over any American city or town such as Seattle or Chicago or even Miami. Other countries have and still do kill their own citizens that even think about a better life. As a matter of fact Dictators have killed off thousands just because of skin color, religious beliefs, ethnic backgrounds and more. BY THE WAY - BUSH, CARTER, REGAN, CLINTON, FORD, NIXON, KENNEDY and on and on have all had their problems WHICH ARE OUR PROBLEMS or CHALLENGES as Americans. CAN YOU DO A BETTER JOB? Ask yourself this 1. Are you part of the problem or solution? 2. Do you just complain without offer of a well thought out solution? 3. HAVE YOU VOTED? Before us where the Russians in most areas. They took over or tried because of many political gains. Taking care of the people, in my opinion from what I saw, was 2nd or 3rd in priority on a long list of first priorities. It seems clear now that Russia would have never stopped a westward advance until they eventually made it back home via a long trot around the globe. In big part to OUR US Armed forces, the Soviet empire, for the most part, came crumbling down in the face of world economic embargoes, military power and world leaders negotiating treaties etc.. Well, we took over some if not most of the assistance, training, fighting and helping establish new leaders/governments and at the same time trying to put a stop to criminal activities that cover a broad rang of violations against humanity. What does the US get in return? The list is endless but regardless of political affiliation Republican, Democrat, Independent or other one big plus is I can sit at my own pool on land that I OWEN and go to doctors or malls or any church that I want because of FREEDOM. But freedom has responsibilities and cost. At a local Veterans Hospital a sign reads "The Price of Freedom is visible Here"
I must go for medical reasons. We are still in a lot of places to stops wrong doers and protect our country and way of life. I know another American can continue to give you more on this subject. Go on line and do some basic reading search for key words that fit your subject. Check out the link below.

Bush has to throw his weight around. He's an idiot and needs to be impeached immediately, before he does anymore damage.
