Yep. I'm an OB/GYN ultrasound tech and I've seen it before. It's rare, and the IUD could increase the odds of an ectopic pregnancy. So, get a pregnancy test AND call your doctor. If you get sudden cramping and/or pain get to the ER.
I need to clarify my remarks. An IUD does not CAUSE an ectopic pregnancy, but an IUD is not 100% effective in preventing a pregnancy. And because the IUD is more effective at preventing an intrauterine pregnancy than it is at preventing an extrauterine (ectopic) pregnancy, the likelihood of of a NON-prevented implantation are greater for the ectopic pregnancy. In other words, ectopic pregnancies occur for various reasons. An IUD will not prevent an ectopic implantation. So if you're pregnant, there's a good chance it is ectopic.

It is possible, though rare, to become pregnant while on the IUD. If you suspect you are pregnant, use a home pregnancy test immediately and see your doctor. If you are pregnant the IUD will have to be removed ASAP.

no form of birth control is 100% effective, but it is unlikely that you are pregnant using merina. try not to stress about it. maybe think about getting a home pregnancy test or talk to your doctor.

The IUD is as effective as surgery so I highly doubt it however like the OB said IF you are its mostlikely an ectopic pregnancy as it dosent prevent those

There is no foolproof birth control method, except for the asprin method. (keep an asprin between your knees and you will never get pregnant as long as the asprin stays there.)
