became like my somewhat unpleasant grandmother (her mother-in-law). And suddenly she has Granny beat for meanness. Do I tell her? She asked me to 35 years ago.

OK, I should have said "35 years ago she STARTED telling us that and we've heard it ever since"...she has gone from a kind sweet woman into an 81 yr-old backstabber PLUS she wants to euthanize my cats. Some things you just can't tippy-toe around.

Oh YEAH you should tell her... just rip off your red nose, throw it on the floor with a big old squeek, stomp up to her with those big ol' shoes and tell her you have had it... remind her that she told you to tell her if she ever acted like her mother to let her know... I would bluntly tell her that she DID act like her mother, and NOW SHE IS WORSE! That aughtta get in her craw.

Sarah4pin has the correct answer. But it is in the gentleness that the message should be delivered.

There are a lot of reasons why people (especially women) get bitter as they age. Please be compassionate about how she came to be so mean and perhaps be involved in helping her heal the wounds that brought her to that place.

Namaste.

I don't think anyone ever really means that. Do you want anyone telling you if you're like your mother when you get old?

I tell my friends all the time to shoot me if I get too fat, but I hope they know I don't really mean it.

I wouln't tell her. She might pass on soon enough and I'm sure you don't want a rift between you two.

Good luck and think carefully.

Remember when you told us to tell you when and if you became a mean ol' lady? Well..........

That's what I'd do-- she asked for it and she's gonna get it! LOL
I don't mess around when it comes to pets either! HANDS OFF GRANNY!

Have a great day!!!

I would remind her, but do so gently. Normally, I would say don't bring it up, but sounds like Mom has gotten murderous and this must be brought to her attention.

No, she was probably stessed out at the time. You don't need to open up that can of worms.

Sure, she knows that you love her. It may give her some food for thought.
