One of my lifes passions is football and I've always been just electrified by the teamwork and dedication a football team has.

For anyone who has coached or played, what are some ways you coach in general?

What do you focus on?

How did you get started?

What should I know as a beginner?

I don't know alot of the specifics, but to be a coach, then rule #1 is absolutely, without a doubt, that your word is LAW. When players don't respect the will (or system) of a coach, the team WILL fail.

The players have to trust that following the system, and executing things the way they are instructed will maximize the results, and bring the coach's vision as close to a reality as possible. (it also will more easily demonstrate what parts of the system are, and aren't working, what players are and aren't performing)

but the discipline (not just behavior, but execution) is absolutely critical. Otherwise a coach is just a babysitter

You have to develop a coaching philosophy.
Find a place to coach, you need to start at little league and work your way up.
Decide what position you want to coach.
Learn everything about that position you can, techniques, steps, drills, etc.
Just remember if you have any questions you can always talk coaching with your local high school coach they will always be willing to help you out.
