It depends on your motherboard. You should never mix ATI with nVIDIA and vice versa. It will be unbelievably unstable. I suggest upgrading your whole computer. If you buy a PCI card, it will be very weak compared to all the other GPUs. Then you will need to upgrade again. Build yourself. Very easy and cheap now that that Core 2 Duos and Extremes are out. If you need help, go check out PCMag.com They had a "How to build computer" article not too farback. Or was the extremepc.com

Nvidia all the way. Go with the best card u can find for pci. pci is now a old style....... Why are you building a new computer when the motherboard you will be putting in it will only support pci not pci express. If i were you. I would buy a better motherboard that can support PCI express.

You CAN buy PCI new, I bought a NVIdia yesterday at Best Buy for a customer. PCI is fine for most gaming, depending on the size of the video card, your processor, and how much memory you have. ATI and NVidia both make excellent video cards.

Well PCI cards are gonna be a bit slow for games, especially new ones, but I will go ahead and tell you the best ones available. The best nVidia is the GeForce 6200. The bes ATI is the Radeon 9250. Like I said neither of these are gonna be really good for newer games, the nVidia will probably be a little better.

you will not find a new pci graphics in store so i think if u can just find a used one it's good :)
