I know I shouldn't be thinking about this since were best friends and all and I can't believe I'm being such a jealous b**** but...

The other day I went on to look at her myspace just to post a comment and I noticed that she had put up her top 8 again (because she took it down once before)... but I wasnt on it! It was some other girl from her old school that she met two years after she met me. It's not that I don't like this girl or anything in fact I think shes really nice. But anyways... I was always on her top 8 and I was always first but when she put it up this time I'm not even on one of the 8! It's not that I'm questioning our friendship but it's totally bugging me. We havent fought, in fact we've been closer best friends than I can ever remember. Should I say something about this? Should I wait longer? Should I bring it up in a joke? HELP!

Dude, it's just the Top 8 on MySpace... don't worry about it. I'm sure you guys are still great friends.

This is just another reason why I hate the Top 8 on MySpace. It lends itself all too easily to disputes and rivalries. If you're good friends and everything is OK between the two of you, I wouldn't put much stock into who's in her top friends list. Maybe it's just a weird error or something. MySpace is a very glitchy site. Or maybe when she put up her list again, she just forgot to put you in her Top 8. Either way, I think it's better to focus on building relationships in real life and not worry so much about what happens on MySpace.

Actually, you should try something else besides myspace.

Teens are clearly using places like MySpace to establish social status. How do young males establish social status? By posting manly, daring images and information that demonstrate independence and bravery and by being listed as a friend on as many profiles of "hot girls" as possible. And how do girls establish social status? By posting sexually provocative pictures and titillating information that attracts the attention and friendship links of manly guys. How does any teen attract attention? By posting hot, intimate information. The teens who are into playing these games are the ones who are most likely playing these games on places like MySpace.

your friends are still you friends....myspace is just some cyber world of non-sense. If she is your best friend, she is your best friend. I have some very close friends and i am in the bottom of one of their top 8s. but im number 2 on the other...its just myspace. dont start a fight over something so petty.
