To an economist, a new product is a good one if it sells well, and a bad one if it doesn't. Much depends on the price you can produce it for. Somebody needs to do a lot more research and development before your question can be answered for solar nano. The innovation whizzkid scientists love it, but can it be made useful at reasonable cost?

Solar energy (for air-conditioning for example) is gradually catching on in places with plenty of sunshine, like Crete, because it's cost-effective. It also has a proven place for powering small gadgets like radios and calculators that need very little energy.

In short, don't generalise. Solar tech is not "a good thing" or a "bad thing". First, show that it works, technically, for a particular purpose. Then show that you can make the gadget that uses it at a competitive price. Then market it.
