My undergrad was in business, so I have a pretty good idea what you're up against in your advertising class, and I may have a pretty good idea if you have the cojones to pull it off.
You could market a new use for Viagra.
Having determined that the energy that it creates has to find an outlet, it actually becomes creative energy among creative types, and given that the average advertising type generally doesn't have the .. uh... usual outlet for this energy, Viagra will actually make advertising types BETTER advertising types.
Of course it's BS and tongue in cheek, but what good advertising isn't BS?
Just be sure the professor has a sense of humor.

Well I don't know if this is helpful. When you go out and buy a bottle with those beer type caps you don't really carry a bottle opener everywhere you go, right? So what about creating a simple device on the cap itself so people on the go can enjoy their refreshing drink right there and then.

How about reinventing Da Vinci's wooden cart .
the world's first self-propelled vehicle - a "clockwork car".
Da Vinci's wooden cart would have been powered by springs wound in the opposite direction to the one in which the driver planned to travel. A rudimentary braking system was also incorporated.

i was thinking of an electric fan but with like a dimmer switch for lights as the way to adjust the fan blade speed. usually now you have set speeds from the manufacturer but with the new switch you could adjust the speed to suit you like for instance you could turn it down for a gentle breeze while you are sleeping

Nascar sponsored road-side assistance. Who wouldn't want to get their car fixed roadside by a truck that has NASCAR on the side?
