Its just another position to put your legs in. We need to change position while sitting to keep the blood flowing. Crossed legs is just one of the positions to change to.

well thats a good question.
I went to this manner place, and you are supposed to cross your legs the following ways:
flat on the ground
one ankle in front of the other
or knees tilted to the side :)
but if u do cross your legs....you are not supposed to pump your foot.
