The reason why we call it 'Friday' is in honor of the Norse goddess, Freya. The Norse people just decided that one day would be called 'Freya day', which shortened into Friday.

Freya was the Teutonic Goddess of Love, Beauty and Fecundity (Prolific Procreation). She is identified with the Norse God Freya. She is the leader of the Valkyries and on of the Vanir.
Like most of the days of the Week Roman,Greek, and Norse Mythology plays a part in naming the days of the Week and also the names of the months of the year.
