A paragraph is a block of text on the same subject. In any form of writing that calls for multiple paragraphs a paragraph can be anywhere from one sentence to as many as you need to complete the thought. If you have been assigned one paragraph you will likely need to write 5-7 sentences unless you write long sentences with multiple parenthetical clauses, that is, something that explains what you just wrote.

You need an opening sentence about the paragraph. A closing sentence summing up the paragraph. At least 5-6 sentences explaing or talking about the subject of your paragraph

I guess teachers have their rules about how they want a homework assignment done, but grammar reality is that you can make a paragraph out of one sentence, and it's not a matter of how long it is but a matter of how that subject in that particular sentence(s)/paragraph is "self-contained", and somewhat different or "separate" yet complementary to the rest of the paper, or can stand alone as a self-contained subject. The sentence I just wrote to answer your question is a paragraph in that it answers a particular subject and needs no supporting verbage. Not even this sentence or the previous one. But then, your teacher sets the grades and assignments, so, maybe you ought to pay attention to what he or she says. Good Luck. God Bless you.

It depends on how long the sentences are, and how in dept they are. If the sentences are short and choppy, then chances are they won't be enough. This right here is three sentences, and I don't think it could pass as a full paragraph.

my teacher accepts 3-5 sentences for a paragraph as long as the sentences are not short.

That's would be one half-*** paragraph, right now I could write an essay about it in ten minutes.

it's probably okay, but i dont know ur teacher, sometimes it depends on the teahcer. And the length of the sentence, honestlt, i think you should try to make it alittle longer.
