Would you want him/her to have lots of friends and be cool getting into a little trouble here & there, not-so-good grades, or a nerdy kid with straight As who gets bullied and has no friends?

my daughter is both ... she is a straight A student who gets in trouble every now and then. She has a handful of very good friends and a "I don't care what others think" attitude. Among her best friends are two nerdy boys and two "cool" girls with not-so-good grades. When she gets bullied she fights back and she's fearless even though she's tiny for her age. She's the coolest kid I know even though she might be labeled a nerd by nitwits. She just doesn't care ... and that's the best part.

I wouldn't care as long as they were happy,but if it meant that they were going to be bullied because they were a so called nerd,well I would want my children to be cool,but if they were the cool ones doing the bulling,I would rather the nerd.

Well on the one hand you have a kid that will be a people pleaser and that will only lead to lots of hurts,Because in reality they just want to be friends with them for what they can get out of the relationship.Then you have what you termed as the nerd which will be looking out for their own best interest and probably get the most out of a good life.You know it is only with what information you view things as to the misconception or accurate conclusion you arrive at. I would rather my kid be a cool kid and have lots of friends, I don't like to see people lonely.

I want my children to be happy and healthy. If they are nerds, then so be it - they come by it naturally (they have geniuses for uncles). If they are jocks, again they come by it naturally (they have a family of jocks - I played soccer, volleyball. Their dad swam competitively, their uncles were in a variety of sports and aunts played basketball). So as long as they are healthy and happy it doesn't matter if they are cool or nerds.

i rather have good grades kinda nerdy but he wouldnt be bullied cuz im gonna be his dad and im gonna teach him to stand up for himself at an early age ill teach him how to box so he aint gonna be bullied
