black cohosh tea.......i used it with my second son.....it definitely started contractions although my cervix had a scar at cm 2 and i did not dialate.....i ended up being induced.....but the tea definitely got the ball rolling... good luck.
you could also try sex, warm bath and a glass of wine.

Don't! Only in extreme cases should that be done, and if so, it should 99% of the time be done by a doctor with things like pitocin, etc. Don't end your pregnancy early just because. If it is for some reason necessary, then I'd suggest orgasm. Sex is kinda useless. You have to actually have an orgasm for your body to kick start labor because the hormones your body releases when orgasming are what will induce you. Also, nipple stimulation helps. Rubbing them makes your body release hormones like with orgasming, that will help induce your labor.

Sex might do the trick, but medical science seems to have actually overturned that as a total myth. ;) You can simulate the vaginal "orgasm spasm," by tightly clenching your kegels. To figure out how to clench or tighten your kegels, if you don't know how, try stopping your stream of urine when you are going to the bathroom, and this will let you know if you are clenching the right muscles in your vagina as opposed to other abdominal muscles. However...I had a friend who was pregnant for about TEN months, so I highly doubt that sex will do the trick if baby doesn't want to come...a lot of the stuff you hear is just old wives' tales and myths, and just because dr.s haven't totally disproved it, it doesn't mean its true...
I've also heard that eating spicy food works, and I've heard castor oil works (but much like sex, it probably is thought to "work" because it gives you diarrhea so you are using similar muscles as in the sex scenario,) and also eating a lot of ginger or drinking a lot of chamomile is supposed to work. :S
But in all due reality, many women have long pregnancies, and if any one of these methods really had a good strong history of working, then...well, we would all know about them like how we know about periods and such. Plus you can have sex all through pregnancy, so it is absurd to think it induces labor - or else a lot more miscarriages would be taking place because there are a lot of women who have sex and have orgasms with their partner during all trimesters without going into labor...
But...by the same stroke, eating a lot of Indian food (ginger, and spicy,) then having a cup of Chamomile tea and some ragin' love makin' can't hurt...heck it sounds like fun! :)
Congratulations on your soon-to-be delivery!! :)

I read an article on this on WebMD.com. The article said things like castor oil don't work, but you already know that. From what I read, the only things that MIGHT work sperm and orgasm. Sperm contains a hormone that softens the cervix and orgasms (the woman) release oxytocin which causes contractions. I can't guarantee it works, even the doctors in the article were split on it. Try going to webMD and read some articles on inducing.

realistically, nothing. the labor starts when the time comes...
But, many people would suggest sex, and walking, walking up and down the stairs.
Don't try caster oil any more, it could be dangerous.

When you do go into labor walk a lot. This really helped me with my contractions. Having sex might help you start labor.

this worked for me...get your hubbie to go driving down a bumpy road. He took the truck down the back roads and within 1 hour I was in labor. Of course please be safe, I dont want you getting hurt. Some other things I hear work are: have sex, go walking, have sex, have sex and have some more sex. Of course, the baby will ge here when she/he is ready.

SEX SEX SEX SEX!! I swear by it! That's how I went into labor. Had sex one night had the baby the other. I started getting contractions that night and by the morning my water broke. Do not try the castor oil. That can harm the baby and cause the baby to have first bowel movement in the womb and there's a risk of baby swallowing the meconium so please do not try the castor oil. It's too risky. Oh and don't walk. It's just going to make you tired and doesnt work. My doctor told me that walking doesn't work!
