President Lincoln had a big mole on his left cheek, and if possible would not be photograghed from that side. He was embarrassed of it since childhood, and a bit traumatized as a child due to other children making up lies about why he had it. He had no choice many times when he needed to be photograghed from the front. Hope this helps. read my source.

Ive wondered that also its probably because the machine when it makes the penny it probably flips it around.
