What differences exist between traditional radio-frequency wirerless systems (eg garage door openers, car alarm keyfobs, etc) and the Bluetooth wireless system?

Bluetooth is in a higher range and different modulation pattern then most car alarms and door openers. And some of the work in the infrared range.
