I had sprint for 5 years and every 6 months I received an upgrade or i a new phone. It depends on the customer representatives at the local store you at. Then also , check to see of the phone you are using is obsolete; then you can say you lost the phone and they will up grade you to what ever phone you have. But, the newest edition.

If you are still in your two year agreement, then you must pay full retail price for the new phone, without any discounts. (This price is usually very high). If you wait out your two years, then you can upgrade and get a discount on your new phone, although sometimes you will have to extend your agreement for another two years to receive the discount. If you choose not to extend your agreement, then you will probably end up paying full retail for your phone.

If you pay for the phone and do not take any rebates or discounts, then you don't have to extend your contract.
