are there any organizations to help people pay their mortgage??

if someone falls behind on their mortgage payment due to unemployment. is there anyone or an organization that will help them pay it?

An excellent question - it shows you are ambitious/pro-active about your situation.

Discuss your situation with the Lender. They may be willing to restructure repayment schedule temporarily.

Be up front, honest and pro-active in becoming re-employed.

Some states do have agencies that can assist. Look for something like the Housing Finance Assistance Agency. I know it exists in the State of Pennsylvania but do not have details for other states.
