On these so call "pour and go" batteries have any of you seen any difference in putting a charge on them or just putting in the acid and going. I bought one yesterday and Advance and the guy said it was ok to just run them. I m sure a full charge would be "best" but it looks like the alternator would do just as good. The battery had 12.88 volts as soon as the acid went in. Just wondering. THANKS!

They need an initial charge of about an hour. Without "that initial" charge, the lead plates in the battery won't fully absorb the sulphuric acid. Therefore severly reducing the life of the battery. Sure, you can "pour and go", but you'll cut the life expectency of the battery. It will be more prone to sulfation, due to the fact the the lead plates weren't fully saturated with acid.
