All the UK is expensive, although Scotland is less expensive than the rest of the UK. Edinburgh is fairly reasonable.

Hi Chris

I live in Edinburgh, it's just a expensive as any other city in the UK other than London. Fantastic for stag night it has great entertainment and is a lovely city. Accommodation is expensive in the heart of the city for a short trip in bus 10 mins book into a B & B in Portobello. There is a night service on the Lothian buses and it cheap and clean.

Glad to help

If it helps after reading the newspaper today there was some poll that said Edinburgh is the 2nd most expensive city in the UK and I have heard that before.

You can find good priced accomodation there are plenty of hotels so they have pretty competitive prices. Just don't come when the rugby's on at Murrayfield or during the festival if you want cheap accomodation. Macdonald hotels have some good deals. It would also be a good idea to check out the visit Scotland web page

Went there last year; it was among the cheapest of the six or seven cities I went to in that timeframe. (Bergen, Norway, was the most expensive.) Edinburgh has a shopping mall not far from the castle; the food mall there was easily as cheap as those in U.S. cities. Ate at a pub just down hill from the castle and was able to get an excellent lunch for about $10 U.S.

My wife and I were so impressed with Edinburgh, we vowed to go back, by car from London, to stay a few days.

There are some great B&B's around that are not to expensive and close to the city center. Rose Street is always a good place to go for good food and drink at reasonable prices. Overall if you don't want to spend too much money but still have a great time you can. Have fun!!

It probably depends when you go. As a regular visitor to the Fringe Festival in August I find it very expensive especailly for accomodation (and that's from a Londoner!)

There are some cheaper food outlets but in general it's not a particularly cheap place apart from travel.

It's good value for what you get. Stay in a B&B or a hostel as these are best value and eat meals in pubs (good food at good prices) and go on the ghost tour (good fun) before going to the excellent bars. Think £85 a day for food, beer, accomodation etc and you won't have a bad time at all.
I don't know the price of strippers though!

I stayed in Edinburgh on saturday as i was through for a wedding and i found it ok not much different from Glasgow actually,we stayed in Haymarket at a place called `Fountain Grove Apartments`,it cost us about £90 for a double room but it was like a home from home, had everything you need,tv,stereo, hob, microwave,it was more like a small apartment and i`d recommend.
