I work for the moving industry. My job duties are registering, and rating paperwork, coordinate moves, collection of all money, credits, billing, claims, ordering all office supplies from kitchen to professional forms. I also answere the phone, schedule appointments, and even water ALL the plants in the office :) When I was first hired my job title was Corporate Sales Coordinator......I'm not sure if this is correct. When I asked what my job title was about 2 years ago, I never got an answere. I'm starting to wonder if it was for pay reasons, or they couldn't think of what my title really is. Help, does anyone have any suggestions

I think Office Manager is appropriate, but if you've been there over two years, ask for a new job title along with a raise.

I'd say something along the lines of an office manager / office coordinator would be appropriate. Job titles are generally pretty poor indicators of job responsibilities when comparing one company to another, so I wouldn't really worry too much about it. Every company uses their own terminiology when coding jobs and titling them. There are only 3 really important categories

Officers - These are the VPs, Assistant VPs (not the VPs assistant), heads of departments (at small companies), management, or in a major coorporation, the majority of white collar jobs

Not exempt - not hourly, but have most the responsibilities of the officers, they are usually eligible for a bonus

exempt - hourly employees

what I think happened in your situation, is you helped develop your job into what it is today, and is slightly different than the job description as it is when it was written.

if you want more money / responsibility, ask, and if that fails, then look elsewhere for it.

If you are just curious what it is you do, then see above. For general Human Resource info, see below

Sounds like you are running the show which could be General Manager.

When you eventually leave, it'll be interesting to see if they need 2 or even 3 people to replace you.

As far as remuneration - you need to sit-down and write your Job Description detailing everything you do. (A starting pointwould be to log your daily activities for a week or two so you don't miss anything.)

After writing out the JD, circle everything you were doing as Sales Coordinator.

Chances are it will balance out that you are providing a huge service....for which a salary review is necessary.

Good Fortune to you.

Definitely Office Manager, or Office Administrator. As an employee, your supervisor SHOULD give you a title.

I work for a surgeon. I do front desk, billing, assist in rooms, schedule surguries, get the Docs cars fixed (!) and I just consider myself a staff member. A fancy title is not that important. If it's to get you a raise, just point out to your bosses all the hard work you do, and that should be enough.

The best title would probably be Office Manager.

You manage all of the office duties, therefore making you an office manager. You can look up and compare payscales on Monster.com and similar sites.
