because it is seen as weak..i hate that about today's society. the thing about women is that we are always seen as weak, so we fight back, HARD to be seen as strong. However, i do believe a lot of women have confused a "strong, independent woman" with "sexual independence". we have achieved a lot in terms of pay, job position, etc, but now that we are stronger and have achieved those things, we also started looking down on men...and instead of fighting back in a positive way, they choose to equate being "masculine" with being "macho".... =T..... we are just all messed up! masculinity, and being a Man has nothing to do with false bravado, being rude, obnoxious, not listening to others... being a man means hard working, dependable, strong, confident, and trustworthy.

i hope men fight hard to get their Masculinity back.... the real kind, where men are seen as the head of household, dependable, worthy, Manly. and i hope women fight hard to get back their Femeninity...the real kind, where women are respected, trusted, caretakers, nurturers, supportive...... just because we have more mixed roles now doesn't mean we can't still embrace Etiquette, Politeness, Respect......!

Hi Kolli........I think it comes down to the fact that as boys growing up, they are told not cry, to be tough and blah blah blah that when it comes time to show an emotion that's not tied to being a "macho go getter", they just choke, because all of a sudden their suppose to open up a feeling that they have been conditioned to supress since birth. So if you have a man in your life Kolli that's the reason for this question, don't worry too much, just love him, and let him know that your a safe person for him to be open and honest about his feelings. If they are less than compassionate, then you really might need to look at his father and that line of male influence in his life whilst he was growing up......some dad's rule with an iron fist and show no emotion and that does emotional damage to the son's if they are told to follow suit. It could also be blamed on people like Germaine Greer who have screwed up in their dyke like lifestyle of bra burning and shyte on the men I can open my own friggin door......opinions and outbursts that have also left men wondering what "can" we show women that wont have us in the dog house........

The reason they do not want to show it is because they are supposed to be the strong one's in the relationship and show us that nothing will bother them. On the otherhand, once you get to know them on a deeper level, they will let you in on their sensitive side and show their compassion, you have to give it time

We don't like to show sensitivity and compassion because we are taught not to, and also because any dumb guy can look at how often talkative, compassionate, and sensitive guys get dates. You know... "nice" guys? They don't get dates until they are 30. So, men act butch and macho and young, silly women eat it up (and then claim they don't).

You are only looking at those who are like that. There are plenty of guys who do show sensitivity and compassion. Look for them, they are there.

i suppose cuz society sees it as unmanly. i'll tell u something, personally i like a man who is manly and knows how to show emotions when appropriate (or at least not to the extreme). I wouldn't want to be with a guy that is way too sensitive, i'd feel like i was dating a *****

people stereotype males as someone strong and courageous. seeing a sissy guy is very unattractive to most girls. so they don't show compassion, it ruins their "ego". most guys want to be buff and manly, get all the girls, the usual things guys to nowadays.
