Most gasoline doesn't have much, if any, water in it. The water comes from condensation. If there is any water in any tanks it would settle to the bottom of the tanks. It doesn't matter whether it is underground or above ground tanks.
Also water can build up in your gas tank after you have put some in your gas tank. Be sure to fill your tank completely in the winter time. That way condensation can't build up as badly. Also a good water eliminator would be helpful. Like HEET. or a gasoline antifreeze. All are pretty good about keeping so much water from their tanks.

It depends on the condition of the station more than brand of gas. The older, smaller stations have older, less well maintianed tanks and pumps. They will tend to have more sediment and water in the tanks and filters. Finding water in gas isnt as common anymore. In 1997 or so, the EPA made all the old stations in US replace their obsolete single-walled in-ground tanks. The tanks had to be dug up, and double walled tanks installed. So you're likely not gonna find a 50 year old tank holding fuel anymore.
Many mom and pop gas stations went out of business, when they couldn't afford to replace the tanks.

Sir I drive a chevy silverado and I use to put gas in it but one day 2 years ago I discovered Shell premium and the truck wanted to leave the ground( still does) I no longer go to the gas station, I go to the Shell station and that will get you through winter.

Fill at a station that has above ground tanks, if you can. There doesn't seem to be as much of a problem as gas that has been stored in below ground tanks. Gas line antifreeze works good too.

General Motors, and I think Ford and Chrysler have a list of Stations that sell what they call TOP TIER fuel. Call your local dealer and ask if they have a list for your area. Or maybe look on their websites.

Stick with one station...don't fuel up when the rig is there...cheap gas is like cheap food. The results are not pretty long-term for either humans or machines. DON'T use 87 octane except for lawnmowers and Hyndai Excels...
