My wife has been bashed, and I've been threatened. We both carry guns; she's also a member of Pink Pistols. For those who don't know, Pink Pistols is an organization for gays with guns.

*Aus*Surfer*Girl*, it's a matter of being genuinely threatened, as too many of us have been, not disagreed with. If it was just disagreement, I'd have been in jail long ago; as it is, I only shoot on the target range and hope to keep it that way.

I think the issue here is being able to protect yourself and not just be a victim. Its a mistake for homophobes to assume that GLBT people are simply waiting around to have their faces bashed in.
I think if you live in a dangerous community, and a gun is your weapon of choice, then why not? I would also suggest for those not wanting to take on the responsibility of a gun, some sort of martial art self protection, pepper spray or a taser is a great idea.
My g/f carries a gun, and she knows how to use it. I carry a knife, know how to use it, and enjoy blood play. I haven't lived this long to put up with some coward some punk christian wannabe trying to harm me or mine.

Over in Australia we are not allowed to carry guns but i still don't believe that carrying guns is the answer or having an organisation for gays that carry guns. Don't get me wrong i support gays 100% and makes me upset to hear when people are getting bashed or threatened but allot can happen in the heat of the moment, would it make you feel better if you actually shot someone who doesn't agree with our lifestyle?Could you deal with the consequences?. if gays can carry guns then why cant Black people because of the racist people??? the pink pistols organisation is just putting gays in a smaller category when gays just want to be treated normally... it is really a pity when it comes to LGBTs having to carry guns for security... Maybe i am being naive because i have never seen some one treated so badly they have wanted a gun but hey that's my opinion. And i am sorry if its a bit harsh : (

Yeah, I have a Gun. I have a legal permit to carry it and I do. I have no problem with defending myself with it.
I think it's a wonderful idea. Regardless of the supposed advances we have made, law enforcement and such still do not take the threats we deal with every day seriously. I'll be darned if I or anyone I love will end up like Matthew Sheppard. People who think it will just "escalate" the issue obviously haven't ever been attacked.

I don't carry, but I'm in college and living in a dorm, so that wouldn't be allowed. But Pink Pistols is definitely a good idea. We need to protect ourselves from gay-bashings, especially since we seem to be the only ones who care what happens to us.

Well I think no one should carry guns in fact guns shouldn't exist. I understand you might feel safe. But guns cause accidents. If you know how to use it, you have a license, and you will really ONLY use it to defend yourself maybe.

I think everyone should carry a gun. It is only effective if you don't announce it however, if you announce it, it encourages the simpleton bullies to do something about it and they feel justified. And the world is full of idiot bullies.

Yeah,I would carry a gun,but it has nothing to do with my sexual prefrence. I can see you would think maybe you would be more threatend,but I have never been threatand and everyone I know is fine with my sexual prefernces.

i really don't think people in general should carry guns. i think guns are horrible and the worst invention to humans. i think you have your reasons and you seem pretty head up (means smart and got common sense) please be careful and God bless!
