If it had no postage and the recipient addresss was put in place of the senders address?
Do you think/know if the post office will (mistakenly) send back to the sender for lack of postage?
Makes sense to me.

the point is to get it "back" to the sender- but instead of it really being the sender it will be the recipient.

Get it? The addresses are reversed on purpose. So that way the post office will have to deliver it without postage.

Yes, it will work some of the time. It's pretty much up to the carriers to catch unpaid items. Your letter will eventually be returned to sender although it likely will be delayed by several days and then the recipient might get a postage due notice and have to go to the post office to pay and claim the letter.

It's a rather stupid thing to do to save 39 cents. It's illegal to do it intentionally. It's also a mean thing to do as many letter carriers pay the postage dues out of their own pockets to save the time and trouble of collecting them.

I doubt if it would get delivered. It would be returned to sender.
