Easy subtract 24 from both sides give you the equation 3b=3. the only thing that you can multiply 3 by to get three is 1, thus b=1.

And I never though I would actually USE that piece of knowledge.

24+3b=27

1. subtract 24 from both sides to leave b by itself.

24+3b=27
-24 -24

This leaves...

3b=3

2. Divide by three on both sides to cancel it out on one side leaving b by itself. And the other side divide three by three which equals one.

3b/3=3/3
3. Final Answer is b=1.
