According to Ancient Indian literature, there are 4 elements that are common to all living beings: 1)Food 2)Sleep 3)Sex and 4)Fear.
All these four elements are considered to be the basis of servival. Anything that threatens any of these four elements is dealt with in a fierce manner (rational or not) by an individual.
Also, in Yogic literature, it's said that there are five in-built negative tendencies in creatures: 1)Ignorance 2)Identification with Physical Self 3)Tendency to seek pleasure, no matter how short-lived it may be 4)Tendency to avoid pain, even if it may elevate you in some manner and 5) Fear. And to reach liberation, one needs to eradicate these negative tendencies.
Psychologically, fear to some extent and of certain nature is considered healthy. For example, if you are not a well-trained, well-prepared fire-fighter and you are afraid of diving into a building that is burning like camp-fire, it is a healthy fear. But if you are such a fire fighter and you jump into the situation to do your best inspite of fear, it is surely a sign of calculated courage.
I don't think that it is possible to eradicate fear altogether, if you still have material aspirations, like property, money, worldly relationships, social identity, your material /physical body etc. But you can surely find a way to handle it constructively.
To pursue absence of fear is by and large, a spiritual pursuit. And I have read about some cases in Indian History where people have left their houses and society to pursue the state of all-fearlessness or Nirvana.

Most people when in the face of fear try to hide that they are afraid but to no avail. When all humans face fear they will either face the said fear or cower to try to protect themselves. Fear has only one starting point or stopping point to were it can begin or end. The only starting and stopping point would be life then death. The absence or fear is neither a noble pursuit or a demonic thing. In fact it would seem to be a good thing but in reality it would be a stupid thing to try to travel for it wouldn't even make you human nor even a animal. For all living things at least upon this earth have the felling of fear no matter how much they might deny to the fact.

I would have a really good response to this but it seems that you may need to visit the website: http://www.plagiarism.org/
With fear, you have to think about what it does to a person. It makes one happy that they are not in the position of a character at the same time as helping someone coap with the feeling of not needing to feel that they are in danger at the same time that their body senses danger. Do animals fear? Yes. Thus, innate fear is present in all things with a memory.
Fear is not a decision as much as to suppressing fear is a decision.
Is choosing to suppress fear noble? How about, preventing others from feeling fear? Lets work on ending wars.

I beleive fear is a natural response, at first. However after observing your own natural reactions to many things, you can determine whether they are beneficial for your advancement or not. Having determined them ya or na, work on changing your reaction. We have complete control over our reactions, with work and time.
I do not beleive fear is usefull, some do. Knowing that in a state of fear your body STOPS REGENERATING, you may want to root it out. You cannot be in a state of fear or protection and in growth at the same time, and the more time spent in that state, the more your body adapts to that state; less receptor sites for growth on your cells. Yikes. Work constantly on acceptance and love and understanding and eventually you will be fearless and in constant growth.

The question thats never answered is the age of the twins. We all know how crazy and funny kids are when their young. You can look anywhere, TV, Internet, movies, books and see pictures or stories of young boys in dresses. Done by mothers, sisters, cousuns and putting on a show. This is done for laughs. The girl sounds gender neutral but you saying the boy obivious enjoyment makes me think your friend is putting more effort into making him a girl. I don't see her giving him a choice later in life. Your society is based on everyones opinion instead of an individuals. Plenty of girls wear mens clothes, does that make them lesbians. If guy wears a dress in public that can be a problem for him. Men now wear pants and shirts in womens colors are they gay. my feeling is if a person looks good in what they choose wear fine. But your friend is not offering her son that option.

There is a natural fear and an unnatural fear. Your natural fear says "be careful". Your unmatural fear says "PANIC! A tiger is eating my leg off!",when in fact it is not happening. One of the biggest lies ever told was "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." If you are about to walk off a physical cliff, listen to your fear and be careful. If you are panicking and a tiger is not eating your leg off,do not trust that fear.

fear is a tool. The absence of it is the same as saying, I dont really care if I die or not, and I dont care if my family has to suffer for it.
