What is the place called that children who are property of the state live?

I don't think it's called an orpanage in the united States

Foster care system, Foster homes, Group homes, juvenile facilities. No they do not call them Orphanages anymore. Actually the chidlren are no longer referred to as orphans they are wards of the state. hope this is helpful Good luck and God bless

Here in Ct. there are Group homes, Foster homes, residential etc.
