I'm 17 and I've never had a job before. I want to be a cartoonist. I'm wondering if anybody can give me hints on writing a resume under these conditions. Thanks for all your input.

If you want to be a catoonist, you need a portfolio...
If its a technical trade, you need to get some education.

Honestly I do not understand what is the difficulty in drawing up a resume. In fact you need not file a resume at all. Your cartoons will be your best introduction. They will speak all that is necessary for you. Just give below the cartoon your contact address. My friend who is actually almost an illiterate but a good cartoonist got his job on the spot.

You deeds speak more about you than your words. These resumes etc. are for the run of the mills.

Yes, you have a resume from day one. Sale yourself, let them know what you have to offer a company. How long have you been doing cartoon? Include some samples of your drawing, show them how creative you are. Share from your heart what your goals are, and what you are doing to climb up the ladder to success. Have you taken any on line classes, have you called an sit up an interview with a cartoonist in your local newspaper that you amare?
You are never too young or too old to achieve your goal.

I would suggest you take some professional help (for FREE) from MS word which has inbuilt resume templates for making your resume.

You can also follow the step-by-step instruction to make your free resume, using the resume builder provided with MS office.

Resume styles differ according to profession, and sources of sample resumes are available in my profile, check them out, all the best :)

Write your resume focusing on your school work, and other places you've made volunteered or done work in the specific field your trying to get into; clubs, etc. Also, in the "Objective" area be sure to mention you are looking for an entry level position to start your career.

you don't necessarily need to have working experience. if you draw for the school newspaper, local newspaper or if you've done any work for any friends or family, you can use that as your Related Experience. I think being a cartoonist doesn't necessarily mean having a job, but how good your work is. good luck.

Write a parapgraph about what you want to do, and how your characteristics will help you achieve that goal.
List your high school with achievements and highlight any art classes. Then list any other activities or clubs you do or awards you've received.
There are some good samples and blank templates here.
Good luck
