I've acted in theater for 35 years and been in the movies for over 12 years. Take acting classes, major in theatre, do local commercials, do auditions for everything in the media....I was also a talk show hostess for two different shows......Go for it! I did, and I've made 7 movies. But, when it comes down to it, live is short and about family....So whatever you do , include your family. Good luck to you, Kitty

Audition for parts with your local community theater. Read books on acting. Watch great films.
The "film industry" is almost non-existent in Ohio, so focus on trying to develop your acting skills. Whenever there are open auditions for anything, go. If you do have the talent, things will start to open up for you.
Realize, however, that if you want to be an actress, you'll have to move to either New York or L.A., and even then most people spend years waitressing and such before they get a role.

There is a misconception among many people in the world. Actors, in general, are much older than you would think. The labor laws are much stricter when you are under 18 and thus, it is not a general practice to hire lots of young people unless they are really truly needed. Go onto IMDB.com and search for your favorite stars. I bet they are all at least two years older than you. Every rich Hollywood parent wants their kids to be stars. To compete with the very rich - connected kids - for the highly coveted roles for young persons is really hard. I would suggest that you go to high school and do musicals and plays and all that, then get really good grades and go to college. Even Natalie Portman and Ann Hathaway went to college and major in something you really like. I know it seems weird to say that you are going to wait 8 years for your career, but the time off can help you figure out the best ways to get into the field.
Do not take college as "your back up plan." I majored in theatre (with two degrees) and now I work at one of the best Tony-award winning theatres in the US. After this I plan on going to New York to work at a few theatres there, then when I am done with living off what I can, I will return to LA with a really good theatre resume and start working on TV and at the movies.
Everyone takes a different path to success; you just need to look at all the options before you get upset over the roadblocks to one.

Wanting it bad is a good start.
Talent and skill is necessary too.
Talent must be developed and skills must be honed.
Assuming you have desire and at least some talent -- you have to develop your skills. That means acting. That means doing plays and taking classes in acting, dancing and singing.
Get your face out there. Do local commercials -- even the bad car lot commercials, any thing to learn how to work in front a camera.
Even a small town in Ohio must have a local TV station -- intern there and learn how things are put together and the language.
It's going to be a lot of work -- are you prepared to work at it?

Take acting classes. Call the YWCA and ask if they teach classes. Tell your parents you want to study acting and ask them to help you find acting classess. They can start by calling the community colleges and universities and asking if they can recommend acting classes for you.
