Depends of if it has a posi or not.
Jack up the rear end. Put car in neutral. If both wheels turn forward and backward at the same time you have a posi. If one turns backwards, it is what is called 'open' With a posi, turn the drive shaft 1 turn and see how many times the wheel turns. That is your ratio. If you know that chevy rear ends are usually 2.41, 3.08, 3,23, 3.42, 3,73, 4.10, or 4.56 you can guess which one you are closest to. If you don't have a posi, the rear wheel will turn twice as far, or was that half? I forget. I think it depends on if the other wheel is held stationary or not.

To find the gear ratio; pull the rear cover and count the teeth on the pinion shaft and count the teeth on the ring gear.
#2 Chalk mark your drive shaft and a mark on you tire count the

the precise way is to open the differential and count the teeth on the gears if it is not stamped on the gear next count the teeth on the pinion gear multiply those numbers and that is your actual gear ratio
e.g.ring gear has 64 teeth pinion gear has 12 X 64 = 768
