Our 15 year anniversary is coming up in 2007 and I'd love to renew our vows.
But our marriage is not on the rocks.
I've heard that people that renew their vows
are usually having marriage problems
(my bro-in-law & wife divorced 1 year after renewing their vows!)
We're very happy & I'm afraid everyone will worry that we want to
renew our vows because we're having marital
problems when that's not even the case.
The reason we want to is because our ceremony was in spanish
and we'd like to say our vows in english since it was a little more
"robotic" in spanish. My husband had a hard time speaking spanish then.
Should we or shouldn't we? My husband says No but not convincingly.
I think he really wants to but is afraid his mom will die of worry for us!
She's so dramatic like that!

Renewal of vows-I think it's one of the most romantic things that can happen in a marriage. I believe you are wrong, I believe people that are truly in love are the ones that renew their vows. I maybe the one wrong, but in my mind, and the only ones I know who have done this, because they wanted to because their love had grown over the years.

I think you should do this, I think that it's a wonderful idea. I am jealous. A lot of husbands don't see the point, and don't like the idea of spending all that money for something like this. Tell his Mom, the reasons that you are renewing your vows, and that you love your husband more today than you did 15 years ago. That you loved him then and took the vows, but after 15 years, with the good and the bad, that he's still your heart, and you wanted to say your vows again to show just how much you do love him. Explain it to her, and give her some part in the planning, and that will let her see that see has nothing to worry about.

You best get to convincing that husband to go shopping with you, I think you got a renewal of vows to plan....

God bless us all...........

Most people renew their vows to show how much they love being together. My husband & I intend to renew our vows in another year & a half. Tell your mother in law not to worry everything is fine & you love each other very much. Good Luck, Becky

I've never heard that vow renewal is for "troubled" marriages... My perception has always been that it was just another way to express the love for each other, and that only couples who were going strong would do that.

The renewing of vows is just that, a renewal of the commitment you made to each other. Many couples renew their vows as a way to show how much they are still in love. To show each other that you would, indeed, do it all over again. As for his mother, just pleasantly reassure her that all this is a reaffirmation of your love for one another. Best wishes!!!

Did you get married because your relationship was on the rocks? Screw what every one else says. If you want to honor your husband by recommitting your love to him, then do it! What an honor.
My husband and I have a very strong marriage too, and plan on someday remarrying and having our wedding our way (instead of my mom's).

a renewal will not fix your problems honey. a renewal is suppose to be special , ok like maybe in English is a good idea. but not to heal a breaking marriage or solve problems in the marriage.
