I am having sharp pains on my right side. I have had them all day long, and they are consistently getting worse. I can actually push on where the pain is, and it dulls it a bit. My husband says that it could be a kidney stone, and one of my friends says it could be my ovary. I am going to the doctor on Friday, so I don't want to go before than. Could anyone tell me what could be the problem?

Your appendix is sitting on your right side, and if you've never had it removed then you need an ER visit STAT. a ruptured appendix is a very bad thing. or it could be as simple as a slight ovarian cyst. if you think your pregnant, it could be an ectopic pregnancy, which is also dangerous. if it gets worse over the next couple hours, go to the ER please, for your safety.

First thing that comes to my mind is your appendix! Do you still have yours? Check your temperature...is it a little elevated? Any nausea or vomiting? How's your appetite? That being said, if you have those symptoms, a trip to the ER would be a good plan. A ruptured appendix is NOT what you want. A kidney stone...they say is the most painful thing you can have. If it's your ovary, some women have pain around the time of ovulation and there is medication that can help that. If it's an ovarian cyst or ectopic pregnancy, a trip to the ER would be in order again. 48 hours is a long time to wait...and I wouldn't take the chance if I were you. Good luck.

If you are not on BC pills you could have ovarian cysts. It all depends on where the pain exactly is. Of course you should go to your dr though and they would have to do an ultra sound to confirm that it is cysts. They are very painful. I was diagnosed with mulitiple ones and a few had ruptured. When they rupture it feels like someone just jabbed a knife into you for a minute. The first time that happened to me I was carrying a laundry basket and it was so bad that I dropped it and doubled over in pain! Other wise they were a dull and aching all day long.

Depends on the precise location of the pain... could be as simple as gas not being able to get past the flexure of the colon. If it seems to subside when applying pressure, try taking the heel of the hand and pressing toward the middle of your tummy, repeatedly. Even knee chest position often will help.

I agree with your friend, you are probaly ovulating. I don't think it's a kidney stone, I think you would be in much more pain. If it gets worse, I would go to the emergency room. Hope you feel better!
