Ok...my first question wasn't specific enough so here it goes AGAIN! Me and my friend are doing a project for healthful living on physical abuse. And we did some research but couldn't find any reasons for physical abuse. So we need some reasons for why people either abuse themselves or others. We would GLADLY appreciate it for some more answers besides depression! Thank you!

people abuse other because they are bullies, and have no self esteem, they think makeing others feel bad is a way to feel better about them selves. People abuse them selves because they don't have good feelings about them self. Depending on the kind of self abuse, they want to numb the effects of feeling bad or they think feeling pain is a good thing. all are wrong ways to react to life

I think it could depend on the situation. Who is doing the abusing? kid vs. kid; parent vs. kid; adult vs. adult.
