as the 2 others mentioned - Linksys routers are pretty good. i have mine for 2 years now and it works since then 24/7 flawless.
there are 2 models i can recommend
the WRT54G (no more the latest but still good and is affordable)

the WRT54GL (new and more powerful but nearly twice the price of the WRT54G)

Your proberly best off with a Netgear router () as there proberly the most user friendly. In the past, i've had a d-link router and a belkin router. The d-link was overly complex, and didnt provide some basic features which you would expect. The user interface was also horrible. So be aware with d-link.
My belkin router was brilliant, the admin panel had everything i needed, unfortunately it seemed to overheat quite often which meant i had to disconnect the power and let it cool down for about an hour every few days which got annoying.
Right now, im using a Netgear router, and its brilliant! It definatly looks the part, and has a nice easy to use admin interface unlike the other two makes i've tried. The model im using has MIMO technology (Multi-In, Multi-Out) which increases the performance greatly.
If i was you, i would definatly consider a Netgear router, if you need ADSL or Cable modem support theres models aviliable for that too. Check out the link: http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/RangeMaxWirelessRoutersandGateways.aspx
If you dont need an ADSL / Cable modem, the NetGear WPN824 is perfect, it looks nice, it has a great line up and wont let you down.

There on offer at £77 in PC World in the UK too!

Look for Wireless-G Technology. Wireless-G is the most recent technology in wireless technology. Most Wireless-G speeds can go up to 54 Mbs. Wireless-B has a max of 11 Mbs. I still use wireless-b and i would really prefer wireless-g. Also Wireless-G sends out Wi-Fi Signals farther than Wireless-B & A

Linksys, Belkin, and Netgear is the most common brand that is out there.
I nothing else to say but to wish you luck in picking them out. There are updated wireless G and the new wireless N that are faster and longer range. Computer report are saying that they are not effective as they should be.

I have used one Motorola and two Linksys routers. I had really good luck with all three of them. I probably like the Motorola a little better, but it is a little more expensive. The Motorola interface is a little easier to use, but none of them were hard to set up.

seem for on the spot-G technologies. on the spot-G is the most present day technologies in on the spot technologies. maximum on the spot-G speeds can bypass as a lot as fifty 4 Mbs. on the spot-B has a max of 11 Mbs. I nevertheless use on the spot-b and that i'd truly favor on the spot-g. also on the spot-G sends out wireless alerts farther than on the spot-B & A
